Hi, I’m Kara Hill.

I am a homeschool teacher, nature lover, amateur baker, bookworm, and mama of five incredible children. Starting a family has shaped me in many ways, and one of the most significant was the discovery that I have a serious passion for birth.

I devoured books during my first pregnancy and was amazed to learn how different the birth process is from what I had always seen portrayed in mainstream media. I wanted what the women on Ina May’s farm had. I felt educated and ready. But all the birth stories, books, and videos couldn’t fully prepare my mind and my body for something I had never experienced myself.

The knowledge I had about birth empowered me but the remaining confidence I needed to get through a long first birth was provided by my support team. That birth experience is one I look back on with wonder and amazement. And this is because of that combination of education and support.

I want to do my part to provide education and support to women in my community. I want them to feel wonder and amazement when they look back at their experiences. I want them to feel heard, empowered, and confident.

My doula studies were completed through The Indie Birth Doula Academy.
